scraps from If You're Not, Why Not? - Vivienne Yeo

i got this books as a gift from a good friend... and he told me that there will be a "get to know the author" session at Kino on saturday... and after i read the book, i tot, Why Not?
firstly, i think that it must be tough trying to capture people's attention while they are shopping at Kino, so hard to persuade them to stop and read with you... The poet was so brave i think... if it's me... i most prob dig up a hole and buried myself on the spot! haha but thats not the point...
i think this book is a wonderful present... and the poet was effective in bringing across ideas that are accurate and insightful in an refreshing way...
From her poem, Many Worlds, there is a stanza that goes..

Right here, this moment,
Was beauty in words-
Of humility in truth
And compliment deflected.

Isnt it beautiful, how she put it? "compliment deflected"... who would have tot to put it in such a way? other than that poem, i also love Forever and Commitment, to name a few...

If you see the book in the shop, pick it up and read a little...and see if you will agree with me...

my man, Casanova?

my only escape from the boring yet stressful life of a student is a cuppa with a fren after a relaxing movie... ok, maybe the movie wont be considered as relaxing but it is to me... seated in the cinema, transported to a different time.... so unreal eh? The movie i caught was Casanova.. a beautiful film, i love the buildings, oh beautiful buildings, i love the music... sweet music to my ears... and the accent! gosh... so sexy... hee! and the clothes, so elaborate... plot? its ok... sometimes unxpected, others common.. haha... but still, its a good show... many laugh over it.. hahaha... but really.... are men still able to sweep ladies off their feet? are men like Casanova, mr Darci, Zorro extinct? or is it time for man to give up their swords and don dresses instead to dance to the wimps of the ladies in tights?

i noe the entries have been few and far inbetween...

i guess, time is the limiting factor of the numbers of entries i post... my 3 quizes have been completed... thank god.. phew... but my projects... they are no where near completion! anyway.. those are not so important eh?
so what kept me so bz these days, other than homework and mugging?
Saying goodbye to a close fren.. well, at least goodbyes end sometime or another...
we were at the airport... and oh man i feel like traveling too... going somewhere, anywhere... just leave the shores of Sg and maybe find another me in another place altogether... haha.... do you call that wonderlust? maybe one day i will wake up in an exotic place or facing a simple breathtaking view...

at last, finally.. happy Vday & happy birthday to me

this week had been craaazzyy! 2 quizs (1 on the coming Sat) and 1 midterm... gosh.. and my 21st birthday celebration... im so beat! But first i need to thank all the great people who made it down to my BBQ... you all know who you are... but here are some special mentions, Lex! u didnt even took a pic with me! Shivani, its been so long eh gal? Clara and JX, thanks so much for coming down... of course to those who cant come... i miss ya... it would be even better with u guys came... but i understand that it cant be helped... haiz... BUt! my presents!!!! boo hoo hoo.. . hahaha.. anyway... i had a great time... hope u guys too... was v tired when i got back though...

i had to rush thr my revision for my quizes... haiz.. im so sorry profs... which cause me to be even more tired... the 14 was spent in sch.. doing the quiz and at home preparing for the next... 15 better made use of... midterm, grp meeting, birthday dinner @ swenson and a little shopping... God is merciful eh? hee...

alright... tmr is another day.. poetry classes... hm... my poem will be taken under the knife, or should i say pen? haha.... hope i can defend myself well enough... haiz... n of course... more revision!!!!

suggestions of Birthday Prezzie & others

my birthday is coming.... gosh i sound so BHB but well, i think that u guys might need some direction when buying my presents (assuming that you ARE!) hahaha... so here is a list:

1. Jacket (those adidas/nike etc ones) (not too thin pls...)
2. Havaiana (my old one is decaying)
3. What ever u think i will like... (cant think of anything specific, but cant stop at 2 either, else it cant really be called a list eh?)

well, the first 2 are what i really need i guess... of course the list is not exhaustive... i welcome all presents (duh!) hee hee hee...

anyway, lets tok about something less pleasant... i have been receiving pranks calls again... i dun noe what i did to deserve this... haiz... same thing, a foreign guys call and sms me, who knew my name and said that my 'friend' gave him my number... what the heck?! im quite certain that my so called friend is a foe and is from SMU... so pple watch who u give ur number to... it is really unavoidable to hand out numbers to classmates who u really do not know... thats what grouping do to u... but y are pple like that? i trust them with my number and i dun fool ard with theirs y do they do it to me?
Dear superior being, i noe that you are merciful and just, pls teach the evil doer a lesson, i dun mean to harm him but pls do enlighten him, a lighting bolt to his derriere might awaken him to moral behavior. Thank you.
