A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
A truly beautiful story about a boy growing and learning. He found not only himself but God through love and in the end became a better man.
i have to admit that i came across this book on one of the shelves in the lib but i did not check out with it... it is not my usual read and thus i over looked it (it is easy to do that...) but i was fortunate to be given a second chance at it (maybe some higher order at work hm?). my cousin passed it to me telling me that it was a good book and i took her words for it. when i found out that the author used the retelling style in the book i was a little put off... ( that's not one of my fav style of writing...) but i continued reading despite some interruptions (work, another book, going out) and i found that the book was truly beautiful... i think 'beautiful' is just the right word for it.
The story is of a man (ard 60) who recollects the story of himself at the age of 17... and the story is told very convincingly too... the way the story is writen really convey the author is 17, young, light-hearted, playful, self-centered in the way of the young and then he grew more matured, he thinks of others, he takes responsibilities and he falls in love and learn that he had fallen in love. the story makes me smile, shake my head in the foolishness of the youngsters and makes me weep horribly. it asks questions closest to my heart and open hearts and minds of others to me...
